15 years ago I was involved in the 7/7 London bombings.

In the absence of a physical memorial this year myself and a group of survivors and bereaved collaborated to make this film.

I am immensely proud of what we have created in 3 weeks and I hope it helps the people that rely on the service at this time of year.

We had several dignitaries contribute video to the film including HRH The Prince of Wales, Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Boris Johnson MP, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Cressida Dick, and Professor Sir Sam Everington, Vice-President of the British Medical Association.

We were keen to create a professional, yet creative video to enable the dignitaries contribution and to feel as moving, cathartic and peaceful as the ceremony in Hyde Park.

Press release

7 July 2020 marks the 15th anniversary of the 7 July 2005 London bombings. In previous years, a series of events were held in London on each anniversary, providing the opportunity for bereaved families, survivors and responders to gather together to remember.

The COVID-19 pandemic has placed many restrictions on our lives and in the lead up to the anniversary, it became clear that an ‘in person’ gathering was going to be difficult. A number of bereaved family members and survivors came together to produce a short film that could be shared in the event the normal ceremony could not take place. The film, around 30 minutes long, features many of the elements that would take place at the 7/7 Memorial in Hyde Park and includes short speeches from those affected by 7/7, reading of the names of those killed, music from the London International Gospel Choir and the laying of flowers at the 7/7 memorial.

Additionally, the anniversary film features statements from HRH The Prince of Wales, Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Boris Johnson MP, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Cressida Dick, and Professor Sir Sam Everington, Vice-President of the British Medical Association, where the bus exploded outside the BMA’s premises in Tavistock Square.
